The snow arrives in Lapland by late November, the white covering helping to make those short winter days all the more bearable. Once the New Year arrives the days rapidly start to extend leading to a heavily snow covered spring with wonderful long sunny days.
With the snow, arrives a thrilling number of activities, you just have to choose the duration. We offer activities such as snowmobiling, husky safaris, snowshoeing, skiing, reindeer sled rides, ice breaker cruises, to name but a few.
SnowmobilingBefore you set out you will have instruction by the experts on how to handle a snowmobile. As well as being the ideal mode of transport to explore these vast uninhabited areas snowmobiles are used by many locals for their day to day chores whether that be for rounding up reindeer, reaching wilderness cabins or checking the forests.
They allow us to offer exciting safaris, for anything from 2 hours and up to 3 days, that you will still be talking about for months after returning home. A night time safari is a must, driving deep into the forest In search of the Northern Lights!
Husky Safaris When we ask our clients which activity they enjoyed the most, for adults a husky safari usually gets their vote. It is easy to see why, it is just amazing. After training you are given your husky team and off you go through forests, across frozen lakes with just the sound of paws in the snow and usually laughter ringing through the trees. What ever duration our clients choose, even those who have been out for days, they always return wanting to have another go.
For those wanting to have a more hands on role with the dogs and the running of a husky farm look no further than the Sled dog training school, you really do become part of the farm team.

Many of our reindeer safaris include a visit to a reindeer farm for a short reindeer sled ride and the opportunity to learn more about reindeer husbandry and the local Sami culture. In Saariselka, Rovaniemi and Muonio you will also have the opportunity for longer reindeer sled safaris if you wish.

For a night to remember what about staying in an igloo or room in the ice castle? In Harriniva you can overnight in their snow chambers while guests in the Saariselka area have the amazing glass and snow igloos at Kakslauttanen to choose from. As part of our Ice breaker package we include a night in the Kemi Snow Castle!
For Finns this is the only way to travel. All of our resorts offer a network of cross country skiing trails hundreds of kilometres long, some of which are lit. You can rent skis locally and arrange lessons. For those of all levels of expertise that want to take part in skiing throughout their holiday our Cross country skiing holiday includes two hours guided skiing per day leaving you free time to try other activities. Experienced skiers will love the challenge of our ski trek.

The guided snow shoe walks are great fun but also allow your guides to tell you a little more about the local wildlife, birds and plants. That deep snow can be strenuous but it is great to get away from the trails and deep into the forest.

While Lapland will never be able to compete with the Alps the more relaxed atmosphere, wide gentle slopes, queue free lifts and friendly tuition make it ideal for beginners.
Due to the demand by its younger visitors the Finnish resorts have invested heavily in providing excellent snowboarding facilities which have been very successful.

The day starts with a snowmobile safari from Kemi across the ice of the Bay of Bothnia to meet up with Sampo, the Arctic Ice breaker. Once on board there is an opportunity to don a survival suit and go for a swim!
