Winter Activity Week
Day 1
Arrival at Kittilä airport, transfer to Muonio, Harriniva Holiday Centre.
Get together with the safari group for information about the programme for the coming week.
Dinner and overnight in cosy double rooms (with shower/wc) in Harriniva.
Day 2
Visit a reindeer farm where you will see a slide show covering a year in the life of a reindeer and the role that reindeer play in the Lapp culture. Coffee will be served around an open fire in a typical Lapp tent.
Reindeer herders will tell you about the reindeer and reindeer husbandry and will show you how to catch the reindeer with the Lappish lasso. After you have helped the reindeer herders to harness the reindeer you start the safari through the forest for a couple of hours, one or two persons in each sledge. Lunch will be served next to an open fire along the way.
Return to Harriniva. Sauna, dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Experienced guides will show you how to drive the snowmobile before you set off to drive through the Fell scenery. Lunch by an open fire in the wilderness.
2 persons per snowmobile. Duration of the excursion approx. 5-6 hours, the distance driven 60-80 kms.
Dinner and overnight in Harriniva.
Day 4
This day at leisure. Try cross-country or down-hill skiing (transfer to the nearby Olos Fell included).
Or what about a snow-shoe tour, or just relax? All meals and overnight in Harriniva.
Day 5
After breakfast you pack your equipment and get acquainted with the huskies.
After being taught how to handle a husky sled leave on a two day safari.
Lunch by an open fire en route. Everybody drives a dog team of 4-5 dogs covering 25 kms to a wilderness hut where you will have sauna, dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Continue with your husky team covering a distance of around 25 to 30 km returning in the afternoon to Harriniva. Here you will have a farewell dinner of Lapp specialities.
Overnight in Harriniva.
Day 7
Breakfast and transfer to Kittilä airport for your flight home via Helsinki.

The prices shown throughout the Lapland part of our website represent the cost of the ground arrangements only, to this you will have to add the airfare from wherever you wish to depart from. Previously our prices have included the air fare content of the “package” however recent changes in the way airlines sell their air seats means that air fares and taxes have become more susceptible to change and therefore do not remain at the same constant level throughout the validity of the programmes on offer. Therefore the earlier you book the better chance you will have to obtain the best possible air fare. When you have decided on your ground arrangement, please call us and we will endeavour to find the lowest airfare possible. To obtain the lowest fares airlines now require early booking and full payment for the flights at the time of booking, full payment for the flights will be in addition to the £100* deposit required for the ground arrangements. * Full payment is required if booked within 8 weeks of departure
