Iso-Syöte gateway to Lapland

Iso-Syöte, which is often called the gateway to Lapland, is located in northern Finland just below the Arctic Circle and is home to Finland’s southern most fells.

 

This area is the ideal location throughout the year for those looking for unspoilt nature, open spaces and a wide range of activities.

 

During the winter this magical location boasts some of the country’s heaviest snowfall. The gentle fells and easy going atmosphere make Iso-Syöte the ideal location to learn to ski. It has 12 pistes of which 7 are illuminated the longest being 1200m and 6 lifts. The resort is also at the heart of a network of 120km of cross-country skiing trails, many of which are considered to be easy and therefore ideal for beginners that just wish to explore this winter wonderland.

 

Close to the hotel is Finland newest National park with excellent well marked hiking trails attracting visitors summer and autumn.

Juha and Katarina’s warm welcome to guests arriving at their pretty fell top hotel has made it a firm favourite over the years with our clients of all ages.

Eating breakfast in the hotels panoramic restaurant while watching the sun rise on a winters morning is breathtaking. The hotel also features a bar, saunas, swimming pool and easy access to the 12 gentle ski slopes. This is a wonderful, unpretentious and easygoing location. The hotel restaurant offers an excellent menu but for those more informal evenings you can’t beat their amazing pizzas.

You can choose from simple hotel room accommodation or a short walk away, pretty cabins that all have a private sauna, kitchenette and fireplace.

During winter Iso-Syote is the ideal place to try skiing for the first time, join exciting safaris that start from the door of the hotel and just relax in an amazing setting. It may be a little further from the airport than other locations featured but every one agrees it is worth the journey. During summer and autumn the hotels location on the edge of the national park makes it a great base for hikers.

 

 

 

Accommodation types

	Hotel room 1-3 people: A twin room with private facilities (Upon request an extra bed can be added to the room for a child) Small Cabin 2-4 people: These semi detached cabins, built from silver pine logs, all have a double bedroom, lounge with sofa beds and natural stone fireplace, a sauna, shower and toilet. A kitchenette includes crockery, refrigerator, coffee machine, cooker / oven. Cabins are 300-500 metres downhill from the hotel and are therefore not recommended for those with walking difficulties. Large fell top cabin 2-8 people: Newly built at the end of 2007 the fell top semi-detached duplex wooden cabins are just a short walk from the hotel. They have three bedrooms (two twin rooms and a double room). They have an open plan lounge dining room with a well equipped kitchenette. A double sofa bed in lounge is located in the lounge. The cabin has two shower rooms with wc. The cabin also boasts a sauna and fireplace.

Important Information regarding flights

	The prices shown throughout the Lapland part of our website represent the cost of the ground arrangements only, to this you will have to add the airfare from wherever you wish to depart from. Previously our prices have included the air fare content of the “package” however recent changes in the way airlines sell their air seats means that air fares and taxes have become more susceptible to change and therefore do not remain at the same constant level throughout the validity of the programmes on offer. Therefore the earlier you book the better chance you will have to obtain the best possible air fare. When you have decided on your ground arrangement, please call us and we will endeavour to find the lowest airfare possible.
