Christmas Holidays, Saariselkä
The shopping is finished, the gifts are wrapped and the Christmas cards are in the post. Now it is time to spend a magical Christmas, letting others do the work, while you enjoy the company of family and friends. We have an action packed itinerary to take your breath away. When you meet friends for the New Year and they are bemoaning the usual TV repeats you will be able to enthral them with tales of husky sled rides, meeting Santa and the Northern Lights.
Hotel Riekonlinna
This pretty hotel is located in the centre of the picturesque winter resort of Saariselkä, within easy reach of the resorts many amenities including the nearby toboggan slope. Hotel Riekonlinna has a popular fireside bar in which to relax after an exciting day and restaurants including Emagine's private dinner restaurant. Facilities include saunas, a small childrens play area with ball pool, a masseur and free toboggans. Throughout the many years of featuring this hotel our clients have always commented on how friendly the staff are and what a warm welcome the children receive.

6 Day Christmas programme 22 - 27 December
DAY 1 - 22 December
Depart UK to Ivalo then a short transfer by coach to Saariselkä. Collect your special thermal clothing. An information meeting followed by dinner.
DAY 2 - 23 December
After a hearty breakfast transfer to a beautiful forest location where a ceremony is held to celebrate your Crossing the Arctic Circle and enjoy a short reindeer sleigh ride. You can try a host of winter activities including tandem skiing, quad biking and mini snowmobiles. Lunch will be served in a lakeside cabin. During the day each family will be invited to follow a candle lit trail in a sleigh pulled by a snowmobile to a cabin where Santa is resting. Nevertheless he will take time to hear everyone’s Christmas wishes.
Return to the hotel for a relaxing sauna.
An evening where you’re free to explore the resort and eat in one of its restaurants as a family or with new found friends.
DAY 3 - 24 December
Buffet breakfast. Walk to the safari office from where, following instruction, with children tucked into sleighs, head off along a trail of powder snow on a snowmobile adventure. The trail leads over the fells allowing panoramic views before dropping down into the snow covered forest, stop along the way to toboggan. A hot lunch will be served during the safari. Return to the hotel to relax in the fireside bar while the children enjoy cookie baking in Snowkids club.
A traditional Finnish Christmas dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. Keep your eyes open for a special guest!
DAY 4 - 25 December
A day at leisure to enjoy your Christmas gifts. The ski slopes are open in the afternoon with bus transfers between the resort and slopes. Christmas services take place in the picturesque chapel nearby early in the morning. The less energetic may choose to relax in the resort’s spa, a few minutes walk from the hotel. Lunch at the hotel. Children’s activities in the play room in the afternoon. Additional optional safaris may be booked and paid for in the resort.

DAY 5 - 26 December
Following breakfast make your to where the excited husky teams are waiting. For many of our previous clients this has been the highlight of their holiday. Whether in charge of a husky team or sitting in the sledge, there opportunities to swap places, this is a truly magical experience. Once on their way the huskies become silent and you can hear the gentle sound of paws on snow and laughter of your party. Lunch in a cabin punctuates the adventure.

DAY 6 - 27 December
Breakfast followed by a final chance to enjoy this winter wonderland.
Lunch before transferring by coach to Ivalo airport. Non stop flight to London Gatwick.
