Harriniva Wilderness Holiday Centre

This unique family run hotel is located on of the banks of the Muonio River, in north western Lapland close to the Swedish border. Your hosts, Kopi and Maria, and their friendly team will welcome you to their magical winter wonderland where they encourage guests to relax away from the stresses of everyday life and to enjoy the surrounding nature.
The hotel has been lovingly built using local wood and stone to give it a warm and rustic feel with traditional and cosy accommodation with private facilities. The hub of the hotel is the restaurant and bar where you can relax at the end of an exciting day swapping stories over a hearty meal and a drink.
Harriniva offers all the exciting activities on it’s doorstep, including one of Europe’s largest husky farms which of course you will have a chance to visit during your stay.
DAY 1
A morning flight from London Gatwick to Kittilä. Private transfer to Muonio and the Harriniva Wilderness Holiday Centre. Time to settle in and collect thermal clothing before an information meeting. Dinner. The energetic may want to head out and play in the snow!
DAY 2
Buffet breakfast. A tour of the husky farm followed by snowmobile and husky school to prepare you for your safari. It is then time to head out into the snow covered forest pulled by the enthusiastic huskies. Stop along the way at a kota camp for a well deserved hot lunch. For the return journey you will be able to test your snowmobile driving skills along the forest trails, the children will be safely tucked into sleighs. While deep in the forest, stop and search for the perfect Christmas tree to load on a sled and take back to the hotel. The children will then make decorations and decorate the tree in snowkids club.
Free time to relax, toboggan or try some cross country skiing.
A lapp dinner in the Aurora Borealis kota.
DAY 3
After a hearty breakfast it is a day to try a host of unique winter activities. Head onto the frozen river and try your hand at ice fishing (the chef will be delighted to prepare your catch for lunch), meet the reindeer herder who will carry out an Arctic Circle crossing ceremony, teach you the finer points of reindeer lassoing and invite you to take a short ride on his reindeer sled. All can improve their snowmobile driving on the snowmobile circuit; there is even a small one for the children. After all that if you still have the energy you can compete at snow hockey and show off your tandem skiing.
During the day you will be invited to take a journey through the forest in a snowmobile pulled sleigh in search of Santa, he can often be found resting in the forest and loves to have visitors.
Free time for a warming sauna while the children head off to Snowkids club.
Dinner.
DAY 4
Buffet breakfast. A day at leisure when you can set the pace. Time to explore on snow shoes or cross country skis or book one of the additional safaris (to be paid for locally). Some may just choose to relax in front of the fire with a book.
Round off your holiday with a traditional Finnish Christmas dinner, keep your eyes open as you never know who is going to pop in!
DAY 5
Buffet breakfast. A last chance to enjoy this winter wonderland. Lunch followed by a transfer to Kittila Airport for afternoon flight to London Gatwick.
The order of events may vary and all activities are subject to local weather conditions which are beyond our control.
Client Comment“Having just returned from Lapland last night, I just wanted to thank you for a fabulous weekend. From the first moment we checked in at Gatwick to the final departure, everything was really well done. The children adored the experience and couldn’t wait to tell their friends, we all enjoyed the well-planned itinerary, but particular praise must go to your tour guides. Thank you again”
