This unique family run hotel is located on of the banks of the Muonio River, in north western Lapland close to the Swedish border. Your hosts, Kopi and Maria, and their friendly team will welcome you to their magical winter wonderland where they encourage guests to relax away from the stresses of everyday life and to enjoy the surrounding nature.

 

The hotel has been lovingly built using local wood and stone to give it a warm and rustic feel with traditional and cosy accommodation with private facilities. The hub of the hotel is the restaurant and bar where you can relax at the end of an exciting day swapping stories over a hearty meal and a drink.

 

Harriniva offers all the exciting activities on it’s doorstep, including one of Europe’s largest husky farms which of course you will have a chance to visit during your stay.

6 Day Christmas programme 23 - 28 December

 

DAY 2 - 24 December

Following breakfast and dressed in the clothing provided head out for a host of winter activities. Take part in a snowmobile driving school, meet the reindeer herder who will carry out an Arctic Circle crossing ceremony, teach you the finer points of reindeer lassoing and invite you to take a short ride on his reindeer sled. While in the forest stop to choose a Christmas tree, to be chopped down and pulled back to the hotel on a sled for the children to decorate later. A quick stop for a hot lunch before you try your hand at ice-fishing, snow hockey and tandem skiing.

During the day travel deep into the forest in a sleigh pulled by a snowmobile in search of the candle lit trail left by the elves. At the end is a cabin where Santa is resting. Nevertheless he will take time to hear everyone’s Christmas wishes.

Return to the hotel to relax in the sauna. A traditional Finnish Christmas dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. Keep your eyes open for a special guest!

 

DAY 3 - 25 December

Depart on an exhilarating snowmobile safari through the forest. Stop along the way to toboggan and for a simple, hot lunch.
Return to enjoy your Christmas gifts or meet your new friends to do cookie baking in Snowkids club.
An international Christmas dinner.

 

DAY 4 - 26 December

A day at leisure to explore this beautiful setting. Some may choose to head off skiing, perfect their tobogganing techniques, take a family winter walk in the forest or sign up for one of the optional safaris. Lunch during the in the hotel.

DAY 5 - 27 December

Breakfast. After a tour of the husky farm to learn more about the day to day life of the huskies and their training it is time to set off with the husky teams on a safari. Children will travel in the safari guides sled and adults two per sled, one seated and one driving. Lunch will be served along the way.
Return to the hotel in the afternoon, the energetic may want to play on the toboggan slope before dinner.

 

DAY 6 - 28 December

Breakfast. The morning at leisure. Lunch before transferring by coach to Kittilä airport. Return flight to London Gatwick.
