Christmas Holidays in Syöte
The Syöte hotels are a real hit with families due to their informal, relaxed atmosphere and wide range of accommodation. Both hotels command wonderful fell top locations and easy access to the beautiful surrounding nature. They really are in the middle of nowhere, with the nearest town over 30km, so if you have shopping or clubbing in mind this isn't the place for you, but those in search of a true winter wonderland will be delighted.
Hotel Syöte Keskus
You are guaranteed a friendly welcome to this lovely hotel in its stunning fell top location. The hotel offers an excellent range of hotel accommodation with wonderful views including spacious family rooms. After a day of winter activities, relax in the cosy new bar while the children make the most of the exciting playrooms featuring excellent arts and crafts, climbing walls and a sports hall. It also offers easy access for tobogganing, safaris and nearby ski slopes outside. A unique feature of the hotel is the observatory from which, weather permitting, you can enjoy star gazing and the Aurora Borealis.

6 Day Christmas programme 22 - 27 December
DAY 1 - 22 December
Depart Luton and Manchester to Kuusamo. Transfer by private coach to Syote. Collect thermal clothing. An information meeting followed by dinner.
DAY 2 - 23 December
Following breakfast, transfer by coach into the forest where a reindeer herder will be waiting to tell you about reindeer husbandry and take you on a short reindeer ride to qualify for a unique driving licence. The reindeer herder will perform a traditional welcome ceremony. After lunch in a wooden kota, take part in a host of enjoyable winter activities such as tandem skiing, ice fishing, mini-snowmobiling and snowmobile circuits. In a reindeer pulled sleigh follow a candle lit trail laid by the elves to a nearby cabin where Santa will be resting. He has promised that he will make time to hear all your Christmas wishes.
Return to the hotel for a warming sauna or for more tobogganing and for the children to make new friends at Snowkids club.
Dinner.
DAY 3 - 24 December
Buffet breakfast. Once dressed in the special clothing provided the day will start with instruction on how to handle a snowmobile. The children will then be settled into their snowmobile pulled sleighs so you can depart on a snowmobile safari. The safari takes you down the fell and through the beautiful snow covered forest. Stops will be made along the trail so the children can toboggan and all can enjoy a warming drink, then later for a simple hearty lunch before continuing on the adventure.
Return to the hotel in the afternoon so the children can help with the Christmas cookie baking while adults relax in front of the fire or over drinks in the bar.
A traditional Finnish Christmas dinner will be served in the hotels restaurant followed by a disco.
Stay alert and keep looking out of the window as you never know who may pop in!
DAY 4 - 25 December
Buffet breakfast. For many this is the highlight of their holiday, a husky safari through beautiful countryside. Once you are settled into your sled, whether standing, in charge of the team or seated as a passenger you are in for an exhilarating ride. A hot lunch will be served during the day.
Return to the hotel so the children can visit Snowkids club and adults can swap stories about the days adventures over a warming drink..
Dinner.
DAY 5 - 26 December
A day at leisure to explore this winter wonderland. For some it will be a lazy day taking in the spectacular views while sipping hot chocolate by the fire. Others may choose to be more active, making the most of the nearby ski slopes, tobogganing, taking forest walks or joining additional optional safaris.
Enjoy lunch and dinner in the hotel. Weather permitting, visit the observatory for some star gazing.
DAY 6 - 27 December
A morning at leisure. Following lunch transfer to Kuusamo for the flight back to Manchester and Luton.
Dinner.
