Gourmet one week Fly-Drive itinerary
There are so many combinations that we could create for you when it comes to planning a gourmet holiday as all of our hotels featured have excellent restaurants. Below is just one example to whet your appetite.

Fly-drive Itinerary
DAY 1 Morning flight to Gothenburg. Collect your rental car and drive north east to the country house of Bjertorp Slott. Relax on the terrace over looking the gardens with afternoon tea. Free time to explore possibly taking a walk along the country lanes or by visiting the excellent golf course just next door.
Enjoy a five course dinner in the hotel’s beautiful restaurant, renowned for its use of local produce such as lamb and excellent wines.
DAY 2 Following breakfast take a short drive north west to Hotel Ronnum in Vargon close to the tip of Lake Vanern. For the energetic this area offers excellent hiking with trails through the forest along the shore of the lake and for the golf enthusiast , several good golf courses.
Alternatively the area is home to an elk museum and nearby Trollhattan, better known as Trolleywood in reference to its links to the movie business, has several museums and a science centre. Return in time to enjoy coffee and cake in the afternoon.
A five course dinner in the hotel’s excellent restaurant overlooking the grounds.
DAY 3 Buffet breakfast. Drive north and towards the coast. Your final destination is Tanum Gestgifveri in Tanumshede, but before you get there you may wish to loop along the coast road taking in some of the pretty fishing villages such as Fjallbacka, an ideal spot for a picnic or light lunch. Another must is a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage centre in Tanum to see the bronze age rock carvings.
A three course dinner in the Inn’s wonderful restaurant that specialises in seafood.
DAY 4 Following breakfast travel south, it is more fun to take the smaller roads through the villages along the coast. It will be a day of fishing villages and island hopping. Pop into Smogen to wander long the harbour boardwalk lined with traditional red fishing huts and reward yourself with one of their famous seafood sandwiches.
Continue south and a couple more short ferry hops will at last bring you to Flaton and the welcoming Handelsman Flink.
Sit on the hotel’s extensive deck and enjoy a three course dinner while watching yachts tie up at the jetty or make their way through the archipelago.
DAY 5 Enjoy a leisurely breakfast. After a hectic few days, time to relax. Enjoy a swim from the jetty or if feeling adventurous take the kayaks and head off through the archipelago, you could even take a picnic and stop to eat, swim and sunbathe on one of the hundreds of islands.
Return to the hotel to join the chef in the kitchen to assist in preparing your dinner for the evening.

DAY 6 After breakfast continue south taking the short ferry hop across the larger island of Orust.
If you fancy a side trip drive to the west of the island and hop on the small boat to the pretty island of Karingon with its small, clear watered harbour, by which you can relax eating a simple lunch before exploring the island.
From Orust you can cut across to the mainland for a short time before heading west again to the island of Marstrand. Leave your car and take the foot ferry the last few hundred metres to the island.
During the summer the island is buzzing as it is one of the regions most popular sailing hubs. Relax on the terrace of the Grand hotel to eat a three course dinner and enjoying the setting.
DAY 7 Breakfast. A day to relax. Within 20 minutes drive of the hotel there are several excellent golf courses or you may want to try your hand at fishing or sailing.
Take a walk around the island, and you can’t go home without a visit to the fort.

DAY 8 Breakfast. Relax on the island before driving to the airport or an early start will give you a few hours to explore Gothenburg before an afternoon flight home.
